Given my financial situation, should I choose an investment advisory service? Why or why not?
When you decide to invest, there are two types of firms you might interact with. Option one is a broker-dealer, which is a financial entity engaged in trading securities on behalf of clients. A broker-dealer might give you investment recommendations but they are not required to monitor your account or your investments. The other option are investment advisers (like BUNKER). Investment advisers provide ongoing advice and typically with discretionary authority, which means that you give them permission to buy and sell securities on your behalf when they consider it appropriate. We offer a managed account, which allows us to have discretionary authority over the account. This is highly convenient for investors that do not need or want to manage their accounts on a daily basis, that are not following the market closely, and who don’t want to decide the precise timing of each trade. For those who follow the market daily and want to have full control over the assets bought and sold on their accounts, a self-directed account might be a better option.

How will you choose investments to recommend to me?
Our journey begins the moment you open an account with us. During that process, we will ask you questions about your financial situation, your risk behavior, and investment objectives. All your answers will be introduced into our mathematical model, based on the Nobel prize-winning theory of Harry Markowitz. Your investment strategy will be chosen among different types of risk profiles, to invest your money in assets that you will feel comfortable with. Our team will follow the process closely, to make sure that your investment is completely aligned with your goals and risk behavior. Chosen investments will include fixed-income assets (US corporate bonds, US treasury bills, emerging markets bonds), stocks from US companies and other countries' selected companies, and alternative assets, like real estate and gold. All these assets will be traded using ETFs, one of the most diversified and low-cost vehicles available. Conservative profiles will have a more significant weight of fixed-income assets in their portfolios, while aggressive profiles will include a higher share of stocks. Higher risk exposure is correlated with higher returns and portfolio volatility. If you want to know more about our portfolio-selection methodology we invite you to read our Philosophy and Methodology whitepaper (www.bunkerinvest.us/es/about).

Help me understand how fees and costs might affect my investments. If I give you $10,000 to invest, how much will go to fees and costs, and how much will be invested for me?
Transparency is one of our main values, so we will always show you how much we charge you. At BUNKER, we charge a management fee, the one and only. For accounts between $0 and $7,999 there is a minimum monthly fixed fee of $10; For accounts $8,000 and above the annual pricing is a percentage of the AUM according to the table below:
Value of invested assets (in US dollars) | Annual fee (%, except if notified) |
---|---|
$0 a $7.999 | $120 |
$8.000 a $24.999 | 1,50% |
$25.000 a $49.999 | 1,20% |
$50.000 a $99.999 | 0,90% |
$100.000 a $249.999 | 0,80% |
$250.000 a $499.999 | 0.70% |
$500.000 a $999.999 | 0,60% |
$1.000.000+ | 0,50% |
So we have advisory, management and trading commissions simplified in a single monthly fee. Although the percentage is annual, we divide the payments on a monthly basis. More technically speaking, once per month we will charge you the corresponding fee divided by twelve, times the amount on your account at the end of the month. If you give us $10.000 to invest, given that BUNKER does not charge fixed costs nor fees in advance, all your money would be invested in one of our portfolios, the one that best suits your needs. After the first month, we will charge you our monthly fee according to the table shown above. In this case, the annual fee for your investment would be 1,5%, which means that month by month we will charge you 0.125%. Keep in mind that transferring your funds into and out of BUNKER has fixed costs that will be deducted when money is transferred by the third party providing these services. The amounts vary according to the type and direction of transfer. Also, other miscellaneous transactions in your account might have additional costs.

How might your conflicts of interest affect me, and how will you address them?
Our goal is to have both your and our interests aligned. We achieve this through our percentage fee on the assets under management you may have, which implies that the bigger the value of your accounts, the higher the fee charged (although the percentage fee is decreasing on the account value). We have incentives to recommend you increase the value of your accounts. As a regulated company, we are legally required to comply with different organizations like the Financial Industry Regulatory Agency (FINRA) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). We are required to act in your best interest all the time.
